Foundation President Mark Mix highlights Foundation Role in Potential Strengthening of Enforcement of Workers' Beck Rights WASHINGTON, DC - In a move to protect workers' rights not to fund union boss politics and other nonchargeable activities, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Division of Advice and General Counsel have been instructing regional directors to issue complaints against unions when union officials fail to inform employees of the amount of reduced union fees they can pay by objecting to union membership under the Communication Workers of America v. Beck U.S. Supreme Court decision.

Wall Street Journal: Craig Becker’s “Recusal Refusal”

The Wall Street Journal slammed Obama recess appointee Craig Becker this week for participating in cases before the National Labor Relations Board involving his former employer, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU): In his few months at the NLRB, Mr. Becker, former associate general counsel for the Service Employees International Union, has refused to recuse himself from most cases involving his former employer. This despite the fact that Mr. Becker signed the Obama Administration's vaunted ethics pledge, in which he promised to refrain for two years from participating in "any particular matter involving specific parties that is directly and substantially related to my former employer."

Here's an update on National Right to Work's ongoing effort to hold Big Labor-affiliated Obama appointees accountable. Following the initial round of filings, National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys have now filed supplements to their motions asking National Labor Relations Board Member Craig Becker to recuse himself from pending cases.  In addition to the former SEIU and AFL-CIO union lawyer's clear bias and hostility toward the Foundation, Becker's signed Ethics Pledge should preclude his participation in cases in which he and his clients had direct involvement.  The relevant portion of the Ethics Pledge:
