Watch MIT graduate student Will Sussman’s fiery opening statement before the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, in which he describes the pressure and harassment that he and his fellow Jewish students endured from Graduate Student Union (GSU) officials and adherents in the wake of October 7, 2023. Despite objecting on religious grounds to funding that union with dues payments, GSU union bosses refused to provide Sussman a federally-mandated religious accommodation.

Since then, Sussman and five other MIT graduate students have secured Foundation-won settlements vindicating their religious freedoms and other rights against GSU forced-dues schemes, but as you can read in the January/February 2025 Foundation Action, graduate students nationwide continue to turn to Foundation attorneys for help in battling forced unionism.
