Washington, DC (July 25, 2012)<\/b> \u2013 This morning, National Right to Work Foundation staff attorney William Messenger is testifying before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions.<\/p>\n

The subcommittee, which is chaired by Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN), is holding the hearing entitled \u00abExamining Proposals to Strengthen the National Labor Relations Act.\u00bb The hearing is located in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building and is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. EDT.<\/p>\n

The hearing is focused on the recent actions of President Barack Obama\u2019s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which has issued many decisions undermining worker protections.<\/p>\n

For example, in 2011, the Board struck down Foundation-won precedent giving workers a chance to request a secret-ballot election after their workplace is unionized by a coercive \u00abcard check\u00bb organizing campaign. The Board also recently has issued several decisions making it easier for unions to push employees into unionization.<\/p>\n

Committee members have sponsored legislation such as the Secret Ballot Protection Act and the RAISE Act to roll back some of the Board’s destructive decisions.<\/p>\n

\u00abBecause the Obama Board’s current makeup is favorable to forced unionism, Big Labor is having a field day,\u00bb stated Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Foundation. \u00abThe National Right to Work Foundation stands poised to help America’s workers in the face of this out of control federal agency.\u00bb<\/p>\n
