I hereby resign my membership in the Michigan Education Association and all of its affiliates (collectively \u00abUnion\u00bb), effective immediately. <\/p>\n
If I cannot<\/i> lawfully be required to pay dues or fees to the Union as a condition of my employment because I am covered by Michigan’s Right to Work law, I hereby notify you that: (1) I do not want to pay any dues or fees to the Union; and (2) I revoke any authorization that I may have signed that permits the deduction or collection of union dues or fees from me.<\/p>\n
If I can lawfully be required to pay dues or fees to the Union as a condition of employment because I am not yet protected by Michigan’s Right to Work law, I hereby notify you that: (1) I permanently and continually object to the collection and expenditure of a fee from me for political, lobbying, organizing, and all other nonchargeable purposes, as is my right under Abood v. Detroit Board of Education<\/i>, 431 U.S. 209 (1977); (2) I demand my procedural rights under Chicago Teachers Union v. Hudson<\/i>, 475 U.S. 292 (1986), including the required financial reports; and (3) the moment I am no longer required to pay dues or fees as a condition of employment, I want the Union to cease charging and collecting all dues and fees from me, and effective that date I revoke any authorization I may have signed that permits the deduction or collection of union dues or fees from me. <\/p>\n
If you refuse to comply with my requests, please inform me promptly, in writing, of your reasons for so doing.<\/p>\n
