Stupidity will out
After 35 years living in Right to Work states, and always being able to secure employment that fit my education, talents, and desires, I find myself in Michigan, holding a master's degree in human resources, and working at the EXACT same job as I held with a high school diploma. Why?
Because Michigan's economy is the worst in the country. People are selling their homes, when they can, at 2/3 of what they paid just six years ago. Unemployment is among the highest in the country, almost 8 percent.
Again, why? We've seen the heaviest unionized industries deteriorate and all but die in this country - shipping, bussing, steel, and now the automotive industry. Thanks a heap, UAW. You really have Michigan workers' best interests at heart, at least those fraction of your former members who still have jobs. I'm so happy that GM's retirees have their healthcare still. Too bad so many ancillary companies have gone under to have that be true, because GM had to cut back staff and close/idle plants so that it could maintain the ridiculous union giveaways.
I'm glad the UAW now has to shoulder the pension funds. Now maybe it will go under and let American business do what it does best, get our economy rolling again and provide some jobs!!
